Rifles from this school are readily recognizable by the very pronounced "Roman Nose" architecture, which defines the comb. However, earlier representatives of this school show clear German influence in their wide butt stocks and straight comb lines. Rifles from this school can be found with a sliding wooden, or later in the 18th Century, a brass patchbox.
Two prominent gun builders who influenced the style of guns coming out of the Reading area of Southeastern Pennsylvania are Wolfgang Haga and John Schreit.
This rifle is pure pleasure to hold. The exaggerated drop and curvature of the comb lend itself to easy mounting and sighting. Relief and incised carving accent the beautiful and flowing lines the architecture of this rifle has to offer.
